Background
Skaledale Bay is a ficticious station located somewhere
in the North East of England at the twilight years of the British country
station. Within a few years this station will fall out of use because of the
1955 modernisation plan and Dr. Richard Beeching, and, like so many other
stations, will fall into disrepair and either be demolished to make way for new
developments or left in place as a constant reminder of a once, more prosperous,
village or town. Skaledale has been built using only Hornby products, most of
which was kindly donated by Hornby themselves. The volunteers were also given a Hornby
Select DCC controller courtesy of Model Depot. The backscene was designed and
painted in by the hall's resident artist, Helen.
The layout is protable and used to promote the Hall's permanent exhibitions at local shows.
